With around 90 employees and growing, we’re looking for a proactive, approachable HR Advisor who thrives on being visible, involved, and truly connected with the team. This isn’t a behind-the-desk HR role — it’s hands-on, people-first, and deeply embedded in our day-to-day operations.
From making sure the basics run like clockwork to helping shape a great workplace culture, you’ll be the go-to for everything from admin to engagement. You'll be equally comfortable updating HR policies as you are chatting to the team on the shop floor. Most importantly, you’ll be a driver of positive change, building trust across all levels of the business.
What you’ll be doing day to day:
HR Admin & Compliance
- Prepare and issue contracts, offer letters and right-to-work checks
- Keep personnel files, and all employee related documentation and systems up to date
- Maintain and update policies, templates and trackers
Recruitment Support
- Draft job adverts, post to job boards and manage responses
- Arrange interviews and coordinate feedback with hiring managers
- Run reference checks and prepare onboarding packs
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Schedule induction plans and Day 1 set-ups
- Collect starter paperwork, create personnel files and set probation reminders
- Manage leaver checklists, exit interviews and final paperwork
First-Line Employee Relations
- Provide initial guidance on absence, conduct and performance issues, escalating when needed
- Note-take and coordinate formal meetings
- Ensure all competency frameworks are up to date and regular check ins with the team are completed to support
- Take the lead in supporting managers through performance management processes, including annual reviews and employee improvement plans.
- Provide guidance and resources to help managers drive team development, ensure consistency, and address performance challenges proactively.
Benefits & Engagement
- Be super-user for our benefits platform, answering employee questions and driving uptake
- Collate and present engagement-survey results, flagging quick wins
Culture & Visibility
- Spend time regularly in workshops and across departments to build rapport and trust
- Actively listen to employee feedback and spot opportunities to boost morale and connection
- Help shape a respectful, inclusive, and team-driven culture across all levels
Data & Reporting
- Produce monthly HR metrics (headcount, turnover, absence, training) for leadership
- Spot trends and suggest practical fixes
What you’ll bring
- Solid HR administration experience (ideally in manufacturing, logistics or another hands-on environment)
- Up-to-date working knowledge of UK employment law basics
- CIPD Level 3 (working towards Level 5) or equivalent practical experience
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Confident communicator who builds rapport quickly and can push back diplomatically
- A genuine “roll-up-your-sleeves” mindset — equally comfortable handling paperwork and being visible on the shop floor
What success looks like in your first 6 months
- Every starter and leaver process runs to a defined checklist with zero compliance gaps
- Managers receive accurate, same-day advice on routine ER questions
- HR data dashboard is reported monthly, highlighting actionable insights
- You’re a familiar face in the workshops, with team members trusting you to listen and support
- Engagement scores and benefits usage show measurable improvement
Ready to be a visible, values-driven HR partner who’s as comfortable on the workshop floor as in a spreadsheet? We’d love to hear from you.
