Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced fabricator or welder who is looking to take the next step into Quality Control. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong, hands-on workshop experience and a solid understanding of fabrication and welding to develop their career within QC, supported by an established Quality Team.
As a Workshop QC Inspector, you will play a key role in maintaining the high standards expected by our clients, ensuring all fabrication and welding activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and procedures. This role suits someone who knows how a workshop really operates and is keen to apply that knowledge in a quality-focused position.
Key Responsibilities
In this practical, workshop-based role, you will be responsible for:
• Carrying out pre-weld, fit-up, and post-weld inspections to relevant standards
• Checking fabrication work and weld quality against engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures
• Identifying non-conformances, repairs, and rework requirements, and working with the workshop team to resolve them efficiently
• Assisting with the coordination, monitoring, and documentation of NDT activities
• Accurately recording inspection results and maintaining clear, traceable quality records
• Working closely with fabrication and welding teams to support output while maintaining quality expectations
Skills & Experience
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have:
• A strong background in fabrication or welding within a workshop environment
• Up-to-date, practical knowledge of fabrication methods, welding processes, and workshop practices
• The ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications
• Experience working with structural steels, stainless steels, and other common fabrication materials
• A keen interest in quality control and an eye for detail
• CSWIP 3.0 (preferred), with 3.1 advantageous — support toward further certification may be available
